Studio Chat:
Creating Your Own Opportunities
Join me in my home studio for a conversation about taking charge of your visibility as an artist. If you’re ready to grab the reins and get your work out there on your own terms (instead of depending on curators, publishers, editors, and jurors to pick you for their gigs), this is for you.
In the chat, I’ll share A LOT of actionable ideas (both big and small) that will put you in the driver’s seat. I’ll talk about crafting your own exhibition opportunities, creating your own platforms for exposure, building creative community, and choosing untraditional channels outside of the mainstream art establishment. I’ll also talk about why most galleries aren’t able to support and market photographers’ work effectively anymore, and how it’s a particularly empowering time for individual artists to connect directly to audiences.
I regularly speak with photographers who are beaten down by competition losses, photographers who feel overlooked and disempowered by the art world.
I created this offering because I strongly believe artists can succeed without appealing to gatekeepers.
On a more personal note, I created my entire art career from the ground up - without waiting for anyone to hand me the keys. It’s the most empowering thing I’ve ever done, and I LOVE helping other photographers let go of limiting beliefs and step into more empowered roles as artists.
This is for you if…
You feel called to share your work with a wider audience
You’re tired of waiting for art world tastemakers to notice you and define your success for you
You’re ready to call yourself an artist - without depending on establishment approval
You’ve soured on entering contests and you feel like there has to be a better way
You’re a motivated mover and shaker with a DIY spirit
A bit about me...
I’m Laura Valenti, the artist behind Light Atlas Creative. I’ve had my fingers in a lot of pots in the art world, for over 20 years now. I teach interactive e-courses, support emerging photographers in my creative mentoring program, speak to photo groups, and curate exhibitions for galleries and photo festivals around the world. I also jury photo competitions and serve as a reviewer at portfolio review events, where I help photographers fine-tune their vision and promote their work with confidence. I’m passionate about helping artists clear creative blocks and bring forward their most skillful, authentic, wholehearted work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be online at a specific time?
The Studio Chat is self paced and there is no live element. No need to get dressed or do your hair for an awkwardly-scheduled Zoom session! You can take as much time as you need to savor it fully, and you can rewatch it as needed.
Will I get personal feedback on my photographs?
The Studio Chat is a video workshop, so individual feedback isn’t available. If you’d like dedicated 1-on-1 guidance, sign up for a mentoring session (or package) here.
What's your refund policy?
My classes are very highly rated, and many students take them more than once. Because you'll get immediate access to the Studio Chat and all class resources (and because you’ll have lifetime access), your registration isn't refundable.
Is the Studio Chat good for beginners? What about more advanced photographers?
Photographers at all levels will feel right at home in this Studio Chat. It’s never too early (or too late!) to think about sharing your work.
